I'm here in Vancouver for more than 30 days for the Winter Olympics. Just watched Avatar 3D. Still have my 3D glasses on, trying to see if our world will be surreal. 30 days in Vancouver. Second chapter in Risk Free 30 day Trial?

Now I have 1o months to plan the next big adventure. I'll be working again for cruise ships, around Alaska and Caribbean. Keep on keeping on...

Quiet Time

Lazy afternoon at the beach. The best part of my trip. Free to take a swim whenever you want, getting up at noon to have breakfast with the sound of the ocean as your gentle alarm. Can't get any better than this.

Not the way to look while on the road.

As much as I would like to lie and tell you this photo was staged, this is really how I looked when I was walking around in Bangkok. At least you don't see the water bottle dangling behind me hooked on my small body bag. :-) You got all the elements here: Camera around the neck, fumbling about with a big map, shorts and flipflops. Such a tourist! But I do look a bit like a Thai local, so at least they don't give me tourist prices! Gee bhat?

This is how the Gods would look like if they decide to take a day off. Thailand did this to me. Made me sit back, relax and stop playing God over my life and what affects it. Stop trying to control everything and just let go. Live.

My Hotel: Thailand Stylin'

This is my Five Star accomodation in Thailand. Centralized ac, plush bed. Enviro Friendly lighting. No electricity. Living with the bare minimum lets you see and hear yourself better. "You are not the contents of your wallet... You are not your car... You are not your damn Khakis..."

The Local Tribes

The beauty of seeing people keep their way of life in Thailand is overwhelming. Simplistic and uncluttered, they make you think about the things you worry about and make you realize that one should contemplate about what matters in our so called lives. What is truly essential is invisible to the eye.

Old Beauty

This was the amazing view from my BHT200/night room in Bangkok. I find it amazing how they were able to keep the old architecture, even though I'm right smack in the middle of the Capital City, mainly because of their buddhist religion. It's just beautiful to look at special early morning.

Award Winning Ads

Street food Vendors do have an interesting way of promoting their merchandise hehe. I guess western slang is all over the world. Well, The beer is f*cking good...

Booze

Nothing beats walking around the streets of Thailand with a big bottle of their Local Beer. Chang Beer or Elephant Beer is a must have to to help you relax while enjoying the sunset at the beach or just strolling around the busy streets of Bangkok.

Street Food

Khao San Road Offers plenty of Street Food choices. They are so cheap that one can Live off P500 Pesos a day easy! You're also eating healthy as local Thai food almost always include veggies, like this veggie spring rolls! The food was just amazing. Never had a single burger or slice of pizza the whole month.

Khao San Road: The Backpacker's Ghetto

Khao San Road, Bangkok: This is known as the Backpacker's Ghetto. Where backpackers from all around the world try to "settle in" as this street is lined with Budget Hostels, restaurants, Bars and Street Food everywhere. A perfect place for a backpacker on a tight budget.

Get up and Go

Working on cruise ships is the fastest way to visit a lot of places in a short period of time. The disappointing thing about it is you can stay at the countries you visit only a few hours, which depend on how long your lunch break is. Frustrated, I decided to travel independently for the first time, (first time I booked a flight myself) and stay in Thailand for a month to really get to breathe in the place. What followed is a great adventure of trying to live off with only a 40 Liter backpack with you, a tight budget and a few pieces of clothing. See my backpack yes. That's all I had.

Most countries that can be visited by Filipinos without a needing a visa (visas usually cost tons of cash and a lot of paperwork) allow Filipinos to stay 30days.
